Founded in 1963, The British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) is your go-to organization for training and licensing snowsport instructors and coaches in the UK. If you’ve ever taken a ski lesson from a British instructor, there’s a good chance your instructor was BASI-qualified.

Every year, we run over 300 courses both in the UK and abroad. Our modular qualification system starts at Level 1 and goes up to the Level 4 International Snowsports Teaching Diploma (ISTD), all aligned with the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework (SCQF).

Our partnership with the University of Edinburgh ensures that each BASI course is valued and recognized. This helps employers, other professional associations, colleges, and universities to understand and appreciate the level of training our instructors receive.

BASI instructors are a major success story in the UK snowsports scene. As of 2015, we have 6,000members working in 38 countries worldwide. Our qualifications are internationally respected, and we’re proud members of the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA).
